The BMW 3 Series Review
The BMW 3 Series is a entry-level luxury car /compact executive car manufactured by the German automaker BMW since May 1975. It was the successor to the 2002 coupe , and has now been produced in five different incarnations and a no less than five different bodystyles. The BMW 3 Series is the bestselling luxury car in America today, offering style, elegance and performance. These elegant compact executive vehicles began production in 1975, and today are a popular choice as an entry level luxury car. The BMW 3 Series has been revised for September and now features a new interior and exterior appearance to combine with its benchmark powertrains and continued unrivalled driving dynamics. The model also comes with all of BMW?s EfficientDynamics technologies for best-in-class economy and emissions.

The BMW 3 Series' reputation as the world's most popular range of sport sedans remains undisturbed. A successor to the BMW 1600, the 3 Series was one of the first compact sedans to offer the performance of a sports car; even today it continues to provide the benchmark in sport sedans. The BMW 3 Series Touring Car that debuted in the fall of 2005 was also a commercial success from the very start. During the first quarter of 2006, 122,691 units of the BMW 3 Series were sold worldwide – an increase of 54.2 percent over the previous year. The BMW 3 Series is equipped with 3.0-liter double overhead cam 24v inline-6 engine with variable valve timing capable of offering 255 horsepower at 6600 RPM and 220 pound-feet of torque at 2750 RPM. The powertrain has got 6-speed manual transmission system.
The BMW 3 series was redesigned for the 2006 model year. Beginning with 2006 models manufactured after November 2005, changes were made to the side airbags and door trim panels to improve occupant protection in side impact crashes (note: information about when a specific vehicle was manufactured is on the certification label typically affixed to the car on or near the driver door). The BMW 3 Series boasts the same handling and performance standards as the saloon, but the 3 Series is more of personal statement than just a plain estate car. The 3 Series has a large load space and the rear cargo space opens separately for added versatility. The BMW 3 Series Touring is now into its fourth iteration – the first example broke cover 17 years ago since which time it has proved to be a popular addition to the range. Although space is not the premium consideration, BMW is at pains to point out that its new model offers a greater load carrying capacity with the rear seats in place than the Audi and the Jaguar, and is larger with the seats folded than the Audi and the Mercedes Benz.

Front-seat comfort is first-rate. Rear-seat space is marginally increased and good for the size of the car, but it is still a relatively small vehicle. Front-side and side-curtain airbags that cover both rows of seats are standard.
Six airbags are also standard, including front side airbags that protect your torso and pelvis individually. Inside, the navigation system no longer uses a touch screen; it is controlled either by voice command or with a dial. Six-cylinder units are simply sublime, though the 325i does lack torque. Inside, the driver-focused cabin feels sporty, with firm, low-set seats, and you soon forget the slightly offset pedals and get used to the well-connected gearbox.
Leather seats, steering wheel, shiftknob, and trim, wood accents on the dash, console, and doors,power-adjustability of most things power-adjustable (and manual adjustmentof the rest), and the driver-centered design for which BMW is well-knownare all included. Beside the regular window lifts on the driver's door is amaster switch that can put all up or down at one touch. Leather, wood, brushed metal and lots of electronics are precisely assembled in the BMW 3-series cabin. It creates a luxurious interior that would be at home in Star Trek.
Vehicles optioned with the navigation system also get the iDrive system, which requires a complicated, screen-driven interface for some controls. Vehicle occupants may request emergency or other services simply by pressing a button; the BMW Assist system then transmits the location and vehicle information to the BMW Assist Response Center. A response specialist will then speak with the occupants to coordinate dispatch, notify emergency contacts on file, and link BMW Roadside Assistance or emergency services as needed and requested.
Starting with the petrols, there are two 2.0-litre fours, producing 127 and 148bhp. There's a 2.5-litre straight six, with 215bhp, and two 3.0-litre sixes, with 255 and 302bhp. Starting at the top of that list, the new 3 Series Coupe is very elegant and impressive, with more than a smidgeon of sportiness thrown in for good measure. This can be seen in the various exterior design elements from the ‘powerdome’ on the bonnet to the so-called ‘Hofmeister kick’ at the base of the C-pillars - a BMW trademark. Starting with the 3 Series, BMW continues to set the standard for upscale high performance luxury vehicles catering to people who think driving should be an exciting experience. The Index is based off user activity on the Web site, which includes thousands of today's vehicles in almost every brand, make and model.
Sports sedans are a category that overlaps with family cars and luxury cars. But our focus in selecting the four-door car models for this report is that each is characterized for its sporty nature. Sportier handling and ride comfort all in one is now being offered by KW automotive for the BMW 3 series coupe E92 with a suspension from the KW street comfort product line. This allows the body of the BMW coupe to be lowered between 20 and 40 mm at the front, and between 15 and 35 mm at the back.
According to BMW spokesman Tom Plucinsky, the 335d was always planned to be attached to the freshened-for-2009 3 Series that we told you about a few weeks ago . They will start production in September with sales to start in November. According to Hennessey, the Challenger SRT600 will go from 0 to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds, the 620 hp version, and in 3.6 seconds, the 650 hp version. Also, the SRT600 does the quarter mile in 11.9 seconds at 121 mph. According to Brachvogel, there was consideration between a soft and hard top. When they determined that they would be able to make the hardtop fit, only then did they go with the three-piece steel roof.
